Photo by Tom Ungerer on Unsplash Welcome to the first official installation of this blog! After a few moments of brainstorming the name, I'm toying around with "Musician Coop" referencing a chicken coop and a worker co-op... maybe even a coup d'état? Could be dumb, but I suppose that fits. If it's slightly too dumb, let me know.
I'm starting this blog primarily as a way to easily share thoughts and music that I enjoy, and problems I worry about. I love the idea of creating an independent music community that isn't entirely dependent on the whims of a billionaire owned platform... This platform, I promise you, is not owned by a billionaire. Now more than ever, musicians need to stand together and support each other. I've just recently been in close contact with people who do not have our interests at heart, and will stop at nothing to capitalize off our labor (more on that down the line). As a result, I find myself frequently caught up in the need to rant, and figured I'd put those rants into the void in case anyone else is feeling them. Through this blog and site, I hope to figure out a way to lift others up here, and bring attention to problems as I find them. The world isn't going to do it, so it's on us! This will be a place that works to pull musicians out from under the systems that profit from us with no regard for our wellbeing. The first few posts will probably be about music that I enjoy by some friends. However, I'd be happy to listen to other works and review them if you have something you'd like to share with me! I'll likely also be sharing tips and tricks that I pick up as I work on developing this whole self-employed writer/composer/cellist dream. In addition to this blog, I'll be starting up a free members section on my website to receive some more exclusive content. I may even start making a few videos, the possibilities are endless! So, if you'd like to watch someone fail repeatedly and finally succeed, please do tune in! This is a place where anyone is welcome.

I love this. Funny and insightful. The Facebook share button didn't work for me (might be a glitch). Keep it going!
