The Mountain Jester

The Mountain Jester  was originally written for the Fredonia Cello Choir in the fall of 2018. It was then arranged for Bassoon Choir in the fall of 2019. This piece is a variation on the theme from “Peer Gynt” by Edvard Grieg, following the tale of a jester who worked in the hall of the Mountain King. It is comprised of three sections--the first, a nostalgic recollection of working in the hall, the second, a brush with death and a chase through the forest, and the third, a solemn ending with a sarcastic twist.
