Quilt of Feathers

Photo by David Clode on Unsplash

Quilt of Feathers was written in the spring of 2023. The work explores a tapestry of colors and characters. An initial blur of independent bird calls and murmurs coalesces as various instruments join in with their song. Traveling through a variety of environments, the call is passed on and shaped as it journeys. Different characters are introduced; from the cacophony of drilling woodpeckers to the soaring heights of passing eagles. A flock of assorted colors and sizes begins to gather. Having grown substantially in number–united by their music, they finally take off together and fly into the horizon.
