Chiaroscuro was written in the spring of 2019 for the violin and viola duo, Sonic Apricity. This recording is from the Alba New Music Festival in Alba, Italy. This piece explores the internal struggle of a character grappling with their morals. The violin represents the urge to do good, while the viola represents the urge to do evil. Both instruments play around the same theme, corrupting it in either direction. Will our character choose light or dark?
