Moment was written in the summer of 2020. It explores the internal issues that we all face in our day to day lives, seemingly on our own. Our perceived inability to discuss these issues is what prevents us from finding support through them. The song discusses a storm, symbolizing these struggles, as the narrating soprano warns us of it. The nature of this storm remains consistent as its sounds develop into discernible patterns. Despite our ability to recognize these patterns, we struggle to discuss them, and our storms ultimately end in silence.
Original Text: The moment before a storm ends in silence.
The humid, heavy, seconds—heavy silence, before a kiss. Before the thunder that rattles the bones and awakens the senses, a torrent of release.
Toppling towers stood fashioned on a notion, in reverence of anticipation. They’ve no room for patience. A second’s pure stasis breeds the thought of a limitless plummeting thrill.
Why do they crumble sweetly? Where will they rest?
A first and final timeless sigh. The storm tells a story with fading cry. It offers solace, an ancient relic; a hopeful message, a twisted reprise.
The moment before, a storm ends in silence. By Sean Penzo
